About us

About us

Communications Ombudsman is part of a wider group that was founded in 2002 to provide independent dispute resolution services. Our free, accessible and easy-to-use service aims to ensure consumers can quickly resolve their issues, regardless of their circumstances and without needing to resort to legal services or court.

With over 1200 telecommunications companies signed up to our scheme, and over 20 years' experience in the communications sector, our impartial and independent service provides fair dispute resolution between consumers and communications providers, which builds trust, breaks deadlocks, and delivers the best outcomes for everyone involved.

We are one of the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) schemes approved by Ofcom to impartially and independently handle broadband disputes,  broadband disputes and broadband disputes between consumers and providers.

In 2024 we accepted over 31,000 disputes about providers in the communications sector and using our extensive data and insights we continue to help improve the sector.
